If I had to pick one word to define our stay,  it would be relaxation. We needed time to connect with nature somewhere within a short drive from home.

the Mornington peninsula

Why you will love it here

The Mornington Peninsula is Melbourne’s favourite playground, famous for its gorgeous landscape, outstanding wineries, and vibrant dining scene.

From cool bars and chic cafes to pristine national parks, this coastal haven is only an hour’s drive from the CBD.

It's a place where dreamlike beaches and glittering rock pools beckon you to unwind.   An escape where you can go for a morning horse ride on the beach and indulge in a luxury day spa in the afternoon.

Where shopping for curated homewares and local delights can be found around every corner, and wearing shoes is optional.

Did you know you can snorkel with weedy sea dragons and swim with dolphins?

And wait until you set your eyes on the rugged surf beaches. You'll think you've found the wildest and most spectacular place on earth, and you probably have.

And lastly, did I mention you will never want to leave?

Dromana Beach

Arthurs Seat Eagle

Dromana Beach

Dromana beach is known for its clear and calm turquoise water. It's also shallow, making it ideal for families. Behind the foreshore is a wide grassed area with tables, barbeques, and public toilets. There are plenty of picnic spots, a children's playground,  walking tracks, parking, and colorful beach boxes. The fish and chip shop is just across the road.

Dromana Pier

Arthurs Seat Eagle

Dromana Beach

Taking a stroll out onto the 200 metre Dromana pier and looking back towards Arthur's Seat with the bathing boxes and beach in the foreground is a picture-perfect view. Fishing and jumping from the pier are also very popular. The Dromana Pier is situated opposite the main shopping area and Pier Street, Dromana. Carparking is available beside the pier and along Point Nepean Road.

Recalling the times of the 1950s drive and dine culture in America, Dromana Drive gives cinemagoers a chance to swap air-conditioned multiplexes for a unique outdoor viewing experience, all from the comfort of your vehicle. With three giant screens surrounding the viewing area, finding the most comfortable vantage point that suits you isn't difficult. After settling in, fire up the FM car stereo or the portable radio provided by the drive-in to tune into the film. Enjoy!

The world's best woodfire pizza has come to the Mornington Peninsula from Naples, and you will love it. The menu will transport your tastebuds to the best of southern Italy.   Sip on a prosecco while sampling arancini balls,  fresh calamari, and grilled octopus. Unwind after a day at the beach with my favorite cocktail -42 BELOW VODKA poured over crushed ice with fresh-squeezed Ruby red grapefruit & mint. It's so refreshing!

Did you know there are 200 vineyards and over 50 wineries on The Mornington Peninsula, and the best of them are on Dromana's doorstep? So, where do you begin? My recommendation is Point Leo Estate. It's a visionary feast! Lunch is a must, but it's the sculpture park that will blow you away. It's world-class, thanks to the generosity of the Gandel family.

Hickenbotham Vineyard is both a winery and a brewery. Topped off with Mintaro restaurant, the menu includes some tasty dishes, tapas, and gluten-free options. Dine in or outside overlooking the vines; it's a casual affair, just the way we like things here. On this fine day, I enjoyed a superb glass of the house Shiraz, the crusty homemade bread, and the Angus scotch fillet. Followed by the Citrus Creme Brulee.
